Sarah is a mom, a social worker, and a dedicated PTO member running for the School Board in the Cunningham District to fight for strong public schools, empowered educators, and safe, inclusive classrooms for every child.
She grew up attending public schools in Virginia and still remembers the excitement of helping open a brand-new elementary school in Nelson County. Voting on the school mascot, learning in beautiful new classrooms, and seeing firsthand the impact that funding and community investment can have on students left a significant impression on her.
She also remembers the rampant bullying that occurred in public schools and the frequent disappointment of seeing teachers stretched too thin to intervene. Those early experiences shaped her understanding of both the promise and the shortcomings of our public education system.
In high school, Sarah found belonging and purpose through music and the arts. Marching band, concert band and performing in the pit orchestra throughout high school taught her how to lead and collaborate, but it also gave her a sense of community, confidence, and clarity that shaped who she is today. It’s even where she met her husband! Sarah developed a deep appreciation for the arts and understands the importance it has for so many students in public schools and for the many important lifelong lessons learned. Band taught her that success is never a solo act, but something we build together.
Today, as a social worker and an Accredited Case Manager, Sarah has spent years advocating for children and families. In her current work, she helps families navigate complex systems and advocate through insurance companies for the care their children need. That work has deepened her commitment to equity and strengthened her belief in the power of public systems to transform lives when they are properly supported.

As an active PTO volunteer and mother of elementary-aged kids, Sarah knows just how hard teachers work and how much our schools rely on their dedication. She believes educators deserve better pay, more support, and real respect.
She also understands, firsthand, the challenges parents face when trying to stay informed and engaged. Sarah knows what it’s like to feel out of the loop when your child is at school, seeking answers but being met with silence or red tape. She’s felt the frustration of not knowing where to turn or who to talk to when things just don’t feel right. No parent should feel powerless when it comes to their child’s safety, well-being, or education. That’s why Sarah is committed to improving transparency and communication between schools and families. She believes every parent deserves to be a heard, respected, and empowered partner in their child’s education, and she’ll work to build systems of trust and accountability to make that a reality.

Sarah’s top priorities include fully funding our schools, addressing bullying, helping parents feel heard, and ensuring that every student has access to the same opportunities they would receive in surrounding districts.
She’s ready to bring her lived experience, professional expertise, and deep love for public education to the school board. Sarah believes in teamwork, transparency, and putting students and teachers first.
